Revisiting the Bailey case ~ So you can understand the Olympic Animal Sanctuary Fiasco

When I write I don’t want you to automatically believe anything & everything I say. I want you to think, I want you to dig deeper.

I provide all of the documents I have and give you an interpretation of what I see. Sometimes it is very straight forward & doesn’t require more than just reading it, sometimes it requires further investigation

Sometimes it only gives part of the story so I keep digging until I can’t find anything more. I strive for integrity in what I write. I am not a journalist, hell I’m barely a blogger but I want to make sure if you have wasted 5 minutes of your day here that you have learned something or maybe can think a different way about something.

Sadly some of the stories I write about are so convoluted that it takes many many stories to sort through the drama that authorities & their cohorts throw in the mix. My case is a perfect example of what happens when groups of miserable women get together & some have a position of power.

I have been trashed & slammed because I have stood up for Steve Markwell at Olympic Animal Sanctuary, even got my own story on craven’s desire ~ a pit bull hating blogger. I have lost friends, had people block me, been personally attacked.

I have stood my ground because I have seen so many of these types of cases turn out not to be ANYTHING they are portrayed to be. Worse yet I have found that some of them are connected by people who have been defeated in one arena who have focused on someone else as retribution

The Bailey Case & The Olympic Animal Sanctuary fiasco is the PRIME example.

TO RECAP: Bailey’s Farm got raided, by Kitsap Humane, charges were dropped but not until they had given away or sterilized most of their animals without a court order, the only animal that died was the cow that Officer Julie Goode DEMANDED the family keep food out for at all times which proved deadly to the cow who bloated & died in the middle of the night. That resulted in the firing or resignation of almost everyone at Kitsap Humane including Officer Goode. So she lands in Forks, where the Mayor & the former Snohomish county chief LIE by omission & don’t notify the citizens of Forks that she was the lead officer in the Bailey case which gives her the perfect platform for revenge, which she IMMEDIATELY utilizes. Then you take a bunch of miserable other women who don’t like the way that Steve is doing anything because they don’t understand the types of animals that Steve deals with, put them all together with an Officer who is trying to save face & they get Scotlund Haisley on board to bring the HSUS agenda into a rural & farming community. Well that doesn’t work, so they start a facebook page, & lie their butts off.

The Peninsula is a very close-knit community, they are out there because they don’t like the big city crap, it is a fishing & farming community. I remember when we lived in Olalla some rich shit came out there & built his house, an imposing ugly creation with brick walls all around it… within a week of him moving there he started calling AC on everyone for barking dogs, howling coyotes, mooing cows, neighing horse, ribbitting frogs. It was ridiculous, last straw was when he called on our dogs a very large group of us walked up to his door & told his stupid ass that is WHY we lived out here. So our animals could live free, so our kids could make noise, so that we could hear the music of the coyotes & the frogs when we went to bed & if he didn’t like it to get some damn earplugs or take his ugly monstrosity of a house & move it back to the city. He never called again but he did get a big security gate. He can’t even go into a store ~ all 2 of them ~ the clerks simply turn their backs on him. No one wants him or his business out there.

A group came together for the Bailey’s like NO ONE has ever seen though which Kitsap Humane was not counting on. NONE of the animals were sick, skinny or in bad shape, they were food animals, no one is going to buy or eat a sick skinny animals

Media Coverage of the Bailey Case and Related Topics

Olalla couple may seek restitution for seized animals
Quote from the article: “
Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Claire Bradley wrote in an email that her office did not believe that the county could provide proof strong enough to convict the couple in court.

‘(I)n the interest of justice, we have dismissed the charges against both defendants,’ Bradley wrote. . . . ‘Given the current state of affairs at the Kitsap Humane Society, we are unable to meet our discovery obligations and unable to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.’”

Animal Cruelty Charges Dropped Due to Lack of Evidence
The prosecutor’s office admits they couldn’t prove the animals were neglected. Too bad that didn’t stop the involved agencies from taking them, altering them and adopting them out despite the Baileys’ petition to get them back and the judge’s order putting a hold on them.

Prosecutors drop animal cruelty charges against Olalla couple
All charges, both civil and criminal, have been dropped–but the animals are still gone. Lots of activity in the comments below the article.
** Please note that the article is incorrect when it says that the cow carcass was discovered during the raid. Court records show that the Baileys called KHS to notify them of the cow’s death (and that they felt it was due to overfeeding as per KHS’ instructions) more than a week previous to the raid, on 11/2/2011.

The ACOs (animal control officers from KHS) were shown the location where the cow was buried in a visit to the Bailey farm on 11/3/2011, a week before the raid. At that visit Officer Goode’s records note that animals had food and water, dogs had been recently groomed and did not appear to be matted, the number of animals had been reduced, and many enclosures had been freshly cleaned. On that date the Baileys were given a deadline of Dec. 1st to comply with some other things KHS asked them to do.

The next time KHS came to the Bailey property was 11/10/2011, when the raid took place. On that date the ACO’s records again indicate that animals had food and water, some had been recently groomed, water containers had been cleaned, additional shelter had been built, and food was stockpiled on the premises.

Prosecutor’s office charges Olalla couple with animal cruelty
The fact that the Baileys were charged with 2nd degree cruelty most likely means the autopsy did not show the cow died of starvation, as starvation would be a 1st degree cruelty offense in WA. Some very interesting comments under the article.

This article says most of the animals were of healthy weight according to the veterinarian, cites algae growth in the water as cruel conditions, and says that they did have food on the premises for the animals every time they were inspected (KHS claimed they needed $700 worth of food per week and that all animals must have food in front of them at all times).

Tensions ran high during the first court appearance Tuesday of an Olalla couple charged with animal cruelty.   In a 45-minute appearance that included 12 supporters, Simon and Rosalind Bailey pleaded not guilty to second-degree animal cruelty charges.

Kitsap County Humane had a history of abuse of authority evidently. Sadly my experience with them was perfect, we worked together, they were kind fair & polite to me. Other people not so much. I screen garbbed a few comments from the news stories above that made me go WTH???

The Bailey raid was merely the tip of the iceberg so to speak…

On January 26th we find out the head of Kitsap Humane is gone

The main cause & creator of this entire catastrophe? OFFICER JULIE GOODE

Now in interviewing numerous people I have found out I was pretty much the only idiot that didn’t know that the Bailey’s & Steve Markwell were related in the whole county we have motive. Cant crush the Bailey’s want to save face & get yourself a grab in the spotlight? Well she went to work on Steve right away, (when she is not busy t-boning other drivers & getting various other collisions on duty) so much so that he had to retain an attorney long before the facebook page came out & she was removed from his case & told to not have any contact with him. In another act of retaliation she throws in citations & investigations that were never entered & in all truth we don’t even know if they were written then or not, she may have doctored for them for her hero Scotlund Haisley. Now most of her friends went down the crapper for her stupid decisions in Kitsap which makes you wonder how far down she’ll take the city of Forks

Here is my letter inre: Olympic Animal Sanctuary to the City of Forks

I sent this letter to a couple of people this evening….

To whom it may concern:

I recently seen the statement that Steve Markwell made to “Yes Biscuit” The city of Forks & it’s actor violated many laws, some included below, most are considered gross misdemeanors.

Since we KNOW that a ticket which Ms Goode issued after she was pulled from the Markwell case was released to the public. It was never officially filed, & qualifies as private information. It was also simply a retaliatory act against Mr Markwell for her own personal reasons

Furthermore her involvement in Mr Markwell’s family farm raid should & DID create a conflict & she should’ve notified a superior of this conflict & removed herself from dealings with Mr Markwell. Instead she chose to create a hostile environment for Mr Markwell making it impossible for him to live in peace & enjoyment on his own property & severely handicapped his ability to do his job.

Whether Ms Goode was “starstruck” by the presence of Mr Scotlund Haisley is unknown but a jury of her peers might be led to believe so. Maybe it was merely an attempt at trying to regain her lost credibilty after the Bailey fiasco which sent her & most of her co~workers running for the hills, Ms Goode’s “run” landed her in Forks & gave her the perfect opportunity for retaliation, again any sane minded jury could & should make this distinction.

So this begs the question: Why is Ms Goode still employed in any position with the City of Forks? It would seem the city would be well aware of the liability they are creating by retaining Ms Goode in their employ

It seems all of the little trolls that were posting documents ad naseum on our Facebook page in support of Olympic Animal Sanctuary are backpedaling & doing a mad dash to remove those now but no worries I do a screen grab of everything so they can’t deny anything when Steve decides to sue them all

So here is the false instrument because it was never filed but was maliciously given to a person doing a public records request yet never given to Mr Markwell, so it is NOT public record…. I don’t think one needs a JD to figure that out. Oh & I do have a copy of Ms Goode’s so~called “investigation” 9 days AFTER she supposedly filed her report which was also not on public record.

Perhaps the saddest part of this whole fiasco is that Forks, & the Penninsula areas are rural areas, people move out there to get away from the urban ideals & attitudes, this is a fishing & farming community & THAT is what the residents want. To start bringing in the animal rights activists & psychopaths is giving them an inch ~ Once you have done that they will take over the Penn & a way of life that has sustained people out there will be GONE. Animals are a source of help, food & companionship where you are. I am a vegetarian but I understand that my way of thinking is not feasible or even practical to people in a farming community. In the city our pets are merely companions, on a farm they are working animals dog or cat, whether it be to chase mice off or to guard livestock & I guaren~damn~tee ya that doesn’t mean people in rural communities love their animals any less. Mark my words, if you don’t stand your ground you will destroy many more lives & livelihoods. Just look back to the Bailey case & what was done to them.

Some of you included in this email have been responsible for passing these new unconstitutional animal laws, & the state will bear the burden of those costs. We don’t need stricter laws, we just need the ones we have enforced, not arbitrarily used to harass honest tax paying law abiding citizens to make criminals out of them to fulfill personal vendettas. I am hoping Mr Richmond will get an injunction against the city of Forks & hold their representative Julie Goode accountable for the egregious misconduct on her part.

I doubt this letter will be met with warm regard by most it was sent besides possibly giving Mr Markwell & his attorney a good laugh but you know me: I had to dig deeper, to understand & boy did I find some confusing things

So we have Officer Julie Goode formerly a Kitsap Humane Animal Control Officer at the head of the failed Bailey farm raid but if you look at the “story” that the Police Chief Rick Bart (formerly of Snohomish County)  & Mayor Monohon give she was formerly a Suquamish Police Officer… (No mention of her Kitsap County fiasco)

Owners of animals criticize Humane Society rescue - Port Orchard Independent 2013-07-25 01-32-07As a matter of fact she basically set them up by DEMANDING that they leave food out at all times for their cow which is dangerous at best, it is unknown if she did this out of spite or SHEER STUPIDITY, since anyone with a brain cell KNOWS you can not leave food out at all times for a cow.

So as we know she is responsible for a good deal of the documents being used to harass & slander Steve Markwell who’s relatives are the BAILEY family, so it is pretty safe to say there was a very clear vendetta there. Even after ALL of this crap she STILL has not been fired, her past has been covered up by city officials & they are constantly covering her ass. Four collisions with police vehicles 3 of them attributed to Officer Goode but in one article it’s like a joke, the next it’s serious…

Update from Steve Markwell of Olympic Animal Sanctuary

animallawnewsandabuse:

AHA!!! I wrote a couple of stories about the Bailey incident, in January & February of 2012… Now I know where all the people involved in this slunk off to!

http://animallawnewsandabuse.wordpress.com/2012/02/03/olalla-couples-farm-raided-animals-seized-due-process-denied-til-now/

http://animallawnewsandabuse.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/dirty-prosecutors-ac-are-at-it-again-kitsap-county/

I didn’t realize that Steve was any relation to them but I lived up the hill on Banner road from the Bailey’s. They (Kitsap In~Humane) destroyed these people, their animals & their lives. I helped them & their attorney, & now it makes perfect sense why he is now Steve’s attorney. This also answers the question as to why this so~called ticket OAS haters are passing around was NOT listed on his record for the state website

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=211068495715045&set=p.211068495715045&type=1

So this Julie no~Goode issues a citation after there is an issue which is never posted on Steve’s record BUT hands it over to the general public. I think Rod Fleck had better worry now because that violates about 14 state laws I can think of & I’m going to send that to his attorney.

So for all the haters, who tried to bash me when they couldn’t get at Steve… How does that crow taste? Salt might help or it might sting just a little but you’ll get used to it.

At issue is an alleged cruelty citation which appears in a Forks police report about OAS spanning October – December 2012.  I posted about OAS in April and linked to an April article in an area newspaper which said:

“Conditions at the sanctuary also were investigated last fall in a six-week animal-cruelty investigation by the Forks Police Department that showed no evidence of cruelty, Bart said.”

Bart is Forks Police Administrator Rick Bart.  I asked Steve for an update and specifically to address the apparently contradictory information about the alleged cruelty citation:

Just thinking about things & realizing how many lies people can tell (HAROTC)

The more I look at these stories about the Turner case the more upset I get.

I went back with all of the records that I have gotten as well as the records that I was given.I get so nervous when I think about this case coming to an end… The 2 surviving horses & the pig Quinn, will most likely be sold to slaughter. Who knows what will become of the Danes & the Cattledog.

I can only imagine if Ms Turner thinks about the same thing…When I seen the pictures & read all the crappy newspaper reports I thought what everyone else did: GUILTY, fry the witch. But now that I know how these people operate & about all the corruption & bull that goes on I had to look deeper, I do that in every case.

I did manage to talk to Ms Turner to ask her a few questions I still had, I’m pretty sure she is sick of me by now but she answers the questions. The picture that haunts me is of the Danes, Raja the female is so skinny, Nemisis isn’t far behind her. Yet the other animals besides Carlos are all fine including her Roosters & Rabbits. I personally went down there & seen them.

Me being me I asked her what the hell happened with Raja, & told her those pictures are going to destroy any defense she might have ever had. She finally snapped at me & said she was trying to get help from those people (Animal Services & HAROTC) she said something to me that really struck a cord: She said “Look at those pictures” I said I was, then she said “You only have to look at those pictures, I had to live that every day, to see my babies go through it, these are dogs I had for 7 years, I had to see it every day & everything I tried wasn’t working & when I reached out & asked for help my babies were taken from me & I probably won’t see Raja before she dies of old age”

I was re-reading the story in the Olympian & asked them to report the whole story… I don’t know if they will, I don’t believe they will, but at least they stopped doing a story every week if the dogs coughed farted or sneezed, as a matter of fact I haven’t seen them do another story, but the damage is done, her name, address & age are out there & the damage has been done.

It is just sad that the people from Animals Services & HAROTC lie in wait for people to reach out to them & then crush them & destroy their lives for asking for help. All for the sake of a few hundred pounds of meat money at the slaughterhouse, & 10K they think the Judge is going to award them. I mean every raid brings in 10 to 16K so we don’t have to ask ourselves what motivates them, nor do we have to ask why it will keep happening.

To prove my point about the collusion that goes on in places like this let’s compare the Kitsap County Bailey Raid to the Thurston County Turner Raid. The

Kitsap County case was dropped because there was an HONEST judge who was not going to go along with all of the dirty dealings, Thurston & Kitsap both forfeited animals, & let animals die & be injured in their “care” but again the critical difference is that the Judge stood up for the LAW, he did the right thing… Too bad we can’t have him cloned.

In the Kitsap county situation it was simply the Animal Control that made the decision, then the prosecutor HAD to get on board, but the buck stopped at the Judge, that is how the system is supposed to work, there should be someone somewhere in there that does the right thing, but not in City of Everett, not in Thurston County, & not in Stevens County.

There are other cases I am working on as well in this state I haven’t written about yet. I have to work on about 20 other different things right now & try to make heads or tails of all of the paperwork, one woman sent me 12 big ring binders of paperwork!!!

Please pray for the Danes, the horses & for the pig, hopefully by this time next year the dogs won’t be dead & the horses & pig won’t be on someone’s dinner plate. This is such an ugly hateful world, I am sometimes ashamed to be called a human.

Great Danes, horses and pig seized at Olympia-area home recovering nicely

NATE HULINGS | Staff writer • Published December 03, 2011

Two Great Danes described as “critically thin” two months ago after being seized from an Olympia-area residence have gained considerable weight and are recovering in foster homes, according to Animal Services officials.

Raja, the female, weighed 66 pounds at time of the raid and is now 113 pounds; Nemesis, the male, has gained 38 pounds. He came into the shelter weighing 77 pounds, said Connie Patterson, Animal Services’ shelter manager. Both dogs were on IV support and could eat only small amounts initially.“ The truth was that they had an IV inserted into them but the records I am looking at have them feeding them almost 13 cups of food a day each at first, then they reduced it a coupe weeks later, but if a dog is TRULY emaciated any vet with a brain will tell you, you can NOT feed them too much or you will kill them especially with Danes, you can create bloat as well
It’s a very nice, normal, steady recovery,” Patterson said. She added that the dogs are sequestered in private foster homes. “ Is this where they lost their toes & a tail? GREAT foster home!
Their starvation was pretty severe.”The four horses that were also seized are improving and receiving care from Hooved Animal Rescue, including Carlos, a 4-year-old paint stallion. The stallion was in the worst condition of the four, given a 1 rating on a body-condition scale of 1-10. Carlos is now rated a 5 and is becoming more active, Patterson said. Again if the dogs were starved they should NOT have been overfed. The 3 female horses were not skinny or underweight, Carlos was turned out elsewhere before he came back to Ms Turners property, I went & checked & asked the lady where he was at.
A pot-bellied pig that had a broken leg has healed and will leave for a foster home this week. A small cattle dog seized remains at the shelter but is in good condition. Quinn the pig’s leg did NOT heal while he was in their care, he had been kicked as a piglet, & the leg was long healed, & he required NO care. George the cattle dog was fine to, why doesn’t he get to go to foster instead of sitting in a cage going insane, maybe they have one that won’t let him lose his toes & tails?
Rebecca Lynn Turner, 28, was charged in October with three counts of felony animal cruelty and three counts of misdemeanor failure to provide humane care. A pretrial hearing is scheduled next week; her trial is tentatively scheduled the week of Jan. 16. None of the animals seized has been adopted, pending the result of the trial.

COMMENTS
Finally Home Rescue

Can you please report the rest of the story;

1) One of the Horses died in the “care” of HAROTC 4 months after they were seized, on January 9th, she died from an intestinal rupture
a) it was most likely caused from simple colic, the horse would’ve been thrashing on the ground & screaming for up to 2 weeks before her intestines finally ruptured & even that may have not killed her immediately, she could’ve been suffering for days before hand
b) they didn’t even tell the woman the right horse, first they said it was Sassy, then it was Cat, now it’s back to being Sassy, she still doesn’t truly know which one was dead,
c) keep in mind the female horses were all healthy weight

2) The Dane dogs have had to have toes & tails amputated while in the care of the shelter

3) The cattledog was healthy weight

4) Nothing was done for the pig because nothing could be done, he required no medical care or treatment. You might also want to note in your photo montage that the second picture of a pig is not even the pig that was taken from the property, that pig has a pink nose, the pig that is being held has a black nose

5) They left all of her rabbits & chickens with her & all were healthy & of good weight.

6) The male horse that was underweight had recently been returned to her property, after being turned out somewhere else off & on

7) This woman was actively seeking vet care & advice for her Dane dogs, she was raw feeding the vet wanted her to feed kibble & that was their bone of contention.

8) That HAROTC forfeited the horse Carlos back to the original owners in December without a court order & still continued to ask for donations for these animals.

9) that after this case is over the horse will most likely be sold to Schorno’s which is a Horsemeat dealer & one of their “foster homes” plus they are going to ask for their standard 10K for the care of the horses one of which died, one of which was forfeited, 2 of which didn’t need any care other than feeding because they were healthy.

10) That Thurston County became aware of the situation because she had reached out to them in an effort to get help for her animals

So let’s add this up:
3 Healthy weight horses who required no medical care, one of which died.
1 Underfed Horse who was forfieted
1 healthy weight Cattle dog
1 healthy weight pig who required no medical care
2 Severely underweight dogs, one with an intestinal issue

I have done a lot of investigating this case & all these people, I have even had to create an entire blog category for them because of all of the info I have found out about them. Shouldn’t we expect the same from the local media?

HAROTC & LPA… Horse Meat dealers, public funds: What else?

Last night I was a little more than upset..

So here is a recap.

Mary Cooper-Ware was the director & co-founder of LPA, & the director & co-founded HAROTC,

Her husband is Lt Mike Ware is the investigating Officer in most of the Thurston County Horse cases,

Connie Patterson was the head of HAROTC is also the Director of Animal Services of Thurston County,

HAROTC has other folks listed as directors & presidents BUT in the newspapers, it is either this Mary Cooper-Ware woman, Bailey woman, or the Patterson Woman who is the “spokesman/director/co-founder.

LPA was trolling craigslist & running ads looking for free livestock to sell to Schorno’s a international horse meat distributor & Premarin foal (pregnant horse pee) dealer.

Mary Cooper-Ware Claims to not have any knowledge this was happening, but til 2010 she was still involved with this woman & LPA.Meanwhile she has publicly admitted she had a Bull at foster with the meat dealer & that she sold it at auction after it was all healed up, because no one is going to buy a sick animal to eat.

So my questions (& there are many more questions than answers) were if she has her hand in both then what is happening to the “rescued” horses? HAROTC says they have taken in 417 animals, but their adoptions don’t match the numbers,it says they have only re-homed 32 animals on their petfinder page. There are several stories about them selling rescued animals at auction. What is the point of rescuing them: Just to sell them to be slaughtered???

They have actually used the meat dealer as a “foster” since 1995.

They also are in the newspapers talking about their latest cases but FAILED to mention that they gave away one woman’s horse & killed another one of them. They also like to brag that they have only lost ONE case against any animals owners, but if the shelter, the rescue & the investigating officer are all connected then that is a BIG HUGE IMPROPRIETY.These are public monies, this needs to be investigated by the Washington State Attorney General’s Office.

Oh & we can’t forget that the Prosecutor Cassandra Jones shows up at the scene when they serve the warrants!!! HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A PROSECUTOR SHOWING UP WHEN A WARRANT IS SERVED? HOW CAN SHE PROSECUTE? ISN’T SHE TECHNICALLY A WITNESS AT THAT POINT?

How many owners KNOW that when Lt Mike Ware shows up at their house they are going down? They then charge the owners 10 to 16K to care for the animals, some they have already given away, or that are dead. They also get grants & funding from Animal Services as well as other parts of City/County Govt, which makes them publicly accountable.Yet they are always saying they have no funds to care for any animals, all they do is newspaper stories about how broke they are & all they do is beg on their facebook page.

Donations are a big part of rescue because MOST rescues don’t get 10 to 16K per seizure, nor do they receive Govt funding.

Here is what the Secretary of State’s Office shows for LPA & HAROTC… I have removed personal addresses

I found this story about Paula Nichols from a person who HATES her guts, who has been hell bent on destroying her, the point is that even HE can see how much bulldoody this story is & he lays it out point by point

Re: Police seize starving fair animals-WA
I think that Thurston County officals and Hooved Animal Rescue did a real number on Paula Nichols too, following the pattern of attacking other rescuers. I don’t think that Paula Nichols did anything wrong except to live in Thurston County.

Re: [Phoenix_Exotics] Re: Police seize starving fair animals-WA

Hello, Deborah-Ann.
After Miss Nichols was arrested and charged with the offenses she committed in Thurston County, I contacted and spoke with Lt. Ware of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Re: [REXANO] Re: [Phoenix_Exotics] Police seize starving fair animals-WA

http://www.kirotv.com/news/17132596/detail.html

Go to this link, click on the slideshow, and look very carefully at the ribcage of the “emaciated” llama. What I see there is a physical impossibility. It is like there is a huge concavity just back of the right shoulder from about the middle of the torso to the spine, including the spine in a way that would require the crushing of bones to make the shape. Worse than that, that shape simply can’t exist because the spine of any animal has a certain width and the photograph shows zero width from the centerline of the spine to the right side of the animal in the area in question.

The left side of the animal does not match the right side of the animal. The neck is not as emaciated as the appearance of the right side of the torso. The belly is completely normal and is not congruent with the appearance of the right shoulder, ribcage, or withers. The concavity is the result of a really bad attempt to morph that part of the picture. The picture is digitally blurred: Compare it to the news photographs where you can clearly what a shaved llama should look like. The blurring erases some of the tracks from the morphing. The animal that is shown being handled is of a perfectly normal weight.

Llamas don’t come with “an ounce of fat.” That llama is young but quite heavy with muscle, which shows that it is well fed. Any of these images can be saved by using the “Print Scrn” button on a PC compatible, which is just to the right of the F12 key, and pasting into your favorite viewer. Then save as and choose your folder and file name. The victim of this assault on her civil liberties deserves to sue someone over all of this. It’s way too easy for someone like Hooved Animal Rescue to obscure who did what to whom, when, and how, and to try to disclaim responsibility. The whole thing requires a very careful investigation. I want her to have money and sympathetic experts and some kind of pull to get the venue away from the judges that HAR uses. Someone accused me of believing everything that I see in the media. That is probably doublespeak for “doesn’t believe what he sees in the media.” This is ironic because this person uses the media to manipulate people. The “underfed animals” trick is so old it should have gone out with vaudeville. That was no lady… The reason that the news cameras don’t show any emaciated animals is because there were none at the fair. That is a reasonable thing to say when the only photograph that shows emaciation was manipulated, poorly and obviously, and the words of Connie Patterson contradict what is plain to see when she was showing the news crew.

Here is an article written by a volunteer for HAROTC (obviously) but the comments are very telling, I took out about 50 of them but left one’s that need to be noted. Judging from the comment HAROTC has a history of seizing animals & only showing pix of the animals in bad shape & using lighting to make them look even worse & selling or giving away animals before a case is resolved

But my trainer said they look fine! Aug 31 2009

Another day, another self-centered idiot who refuses to have a number of horses she can actually feed. The best part was her comment in the title – I can’t wait until I can tell you who the trainer is but I can’t say just yet. These came from Yelm, Washington and this afternoon I was on site visiting the seized horses. My pics are below.

See the mare who set herself up, Arab halter-style? That is one heck of a nice quality mare. I can’t wait to find out who she is but the owner ignored the warrant and refused to release the papers. (If you recognize a horse in my pics, by all means, please comment!) The pinto is also a heck of a nice mare who is going to be beautiful with weight on. The horses are Saddlebreds, Arabians and pinto half-Arabians with a few minis thrown in for good measure. The ridiculous teeth belong to a mini stallion with a wry nose. ‘Cause that needs to breed on! I had the opportunity to work a bit with the “wild, uncontrollable” stallion while I was visiting and he needed to be removed from his stall for cleaning. I think it took me a whopping 3 minutes to halter him…as soon as he realized wither scratches feel awesome, he was eager to make friends and get more. I was on the alert, expecting nipping, striking, rearing and other naughty colt behaviors but Taco failed miserably at being a wild, uncontrollable stallion, doing nothing more than backing up a few steps and stopping when he realized, hey, no one was pulling on him and there was no chain. Taco desperately needs 300 lbs and 2 nonessential body parts removed, but after that I suspect someone will have a darn nice show horse in the making.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County has all of these guys going to foster homes this week to continue fattening up and have their feet and other needs attended to. HARTC does a great job in a county where problems are many and funding is scarce and these horses are going to need a lot of help, as you can see.

  1. grandje says: September 5, 2009 at 3:36 pmIts sad when animals are abused or neglected. I am curious though if I remember correctly there were nearly 30 animals taken yet you only have pictures of 3 or 4 animals? What are the ages of the animals in question? Did any of them have medical issues asside from neglect that could possibly explain a low wieght? I used to have a horse that was over 30 that I couldn’t keep weight on but wasn’t going to put her down as she was not sick or feeble. Pictures aren’t always what they seem, remember when our president looked to be bowing to an arab prince???
  1. grandje says: September 5, 2009 at 3:44 pmhorslovr says: September 3, 2009 at 9:02 amI accidentally posted this under the srong story So, here it is again, a little modified. The reason that mare set herself up halter is because the trainer primarily does halter. He trains Arabians and is located in the Yelm/Tenino area. He and his wife show in the Arab circuit and have for years. If it is is true that he knowingly kept horses under these conditions with this person, who by the way IS a client of his and has been for several years, it is the most shamful thing I can imagine. Of course, they(trainers) will deny their part in any of this They always do! There are definately those people who should never own animals and are just plain ignorant and then there are these people who know better. They (trainers) are to represent and be an example of how to properly care for a horse. After all this is supposed to be their profession. There are many people in this community who know EXACTLY who he and his wife and the woman who had them are. If those involved with Arabians and any kind of training think about it long enough, they do too! As far as the horse, Taco, she has had this horse for several years supposedly as a rescue. He doesn’t look any better than when she first got him. He was stabled with this trainer, at his barn, for a while. What does that tell you????*Didn’t the person taking the pictures say Taco was two years old? If that is true then your information seems to be incorrect.”

Pictures do not show the sad, defeated look in their eyes or their frailness. It is by far the saddest thing I have ever seen. Shame on all of them!*I would be curious to see pictures of the other 20 some odd animals to see if all of them are in the same shape. I see pictures above of 3 animals and not much specific information on the rest of the animals. This seems like alot of hatred without much factual information or vet reports.*
  1. fhotd says: September 5, 2009 at 4:12 pmThere are pictures of 3 or 4 because the volunteers were busy actually working, it was too dark in the barn to get clear pics, and I did not think that making them drag all the horses out for pics was a good use of their time. I assure you, none of these horses are 30 (and even if they were, try reading my old horses thread to see what 30 OUGHT and SHOULD look like). I will out the trainer as soon as I have the ok to do so but it’s obvious the locals have this figured out. All I have to say is, if your horse is in training/on a lease in the Yelm, WA area and you’re NOT checking on him, maybe you might want to do that.

The animals would need to be taken out of the barn on the way to whichever trailer is going to take them off of the property, correct? Wouldn’t you need pictures of each animal as well as a vet report on each animal at the time of confiscation in order to show actual neglect? What was the name of the Vet that was on sight to do the animal inspections? *I assure you, none of these horses are 30 (and even if they were, try reading my old horses thread to see what 30 OUGHT and SHOULD look like).

  1. sneakers2 says: September 12, 2009 at 10:04 pmInstant idiots…. Obviously most bloggers visiting this site are so narrow-minded they only have one ear!!! I have yet to see a firm and fit 30 year old horse — the equivalent of a 90-year old person. Anyone remember that a horse over 12 years is called a “smooth mouth” for a reason? I do have some information about this seizure. There was no vet present–the vet didn’t examine the animals until the following Tuesday. At the seizure, the horse owner was told “the vet is on the way” but probably had never been notified of the seizure until after the fact.It is unfortunate that many folks open their mouths before checking the facts. Show the photos of all the horses so the bloggers can see these horses were in relatively good condition. It is obvious that most folks involved in the “rescue” don’t which know end of the horse to feed. Perhaps the most assinine comment on the TV coverage was the comment that “this horse’s chest is so thin that it only needs one hole for both legs”. Which rock did this person crawl out from under? ALso was a noted that a pygmy goat was seized because it had a pot belly (OMG) what would have happened with a pot bellied pig? One of the features of pygmy goats is that they have a giant belly (as opposed to Alpine or Nubian goats). Several animals were ponies taken from pasture with the allegation of “worm overload”. Anyone who has owned or been around ponies know that ponies on pasture get hay bellies — and that is not necessarily “neglect”. Questions– there are a lot more questions than answers.
  1. fhotd says: September 12, 2009 at 10:29 pmI have posted many pictures of “firm and fit” 30 year olds. Check the old horse thread. None of the horses seized was that age, and many were in despicably thin condition. The comment that both legs came out of the same hole on some was sadly perfectly descriptive. I have no doubt after seeing the horses myself that this was a severe case of totally avoidable neglect. And of course, all horses were promptly treated by an excellent vet. But you defenders keep up with the silly statements. They are so easy to prove wrong.
  1. grandje says: September 18, 2009 at 2:34 pmThank you sneakers for shedding a little more light on the subject. My whole skepticism in this ordeal started when I saw the tv news coverage as well. When they showed the mini’s with hay bellies that were in a pasture it reminded me of a friend of mines who looked the same and were not neglected. It’s starting to sound more and more like an unlawful confiscation of animals under the unfounded “guise” of neglect. It also seems like an abuse of bestowed power and those responsible for the confiscation could/should face criminal charges. People who seemingly act like bullies such as these people are lucky they don’t get shot, although I don’t think the honest pet owners who are being stolen from realize it until after it’s over. This however doesn’t mean I don’t think actual animal cruelty and neglect happens however it seems this is not one of those cases.
  1. Chelsea says: September 29, 2009 at 12:51 pmI know these horses & people. My step sister Desiree Lewis, she was shown on the interveiw.. only ONE of these horses were rescued. The black Arabian mare, Wago. There is one grey Arabian who is in her late 20′s. & the Pinto mare who is in her 30′s.. STILL THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THERE WEIGHT & CONDITION. I have wanted to call on there horses for years now. I have always told them “they need this & they need that” but my mom always said don’t start anything it’s not your fault & i feel terrible. My sister is daiting her the son of the lady who owns these animals.. They have other animals. About 30 or so more dogs that they did not take that some are in bad condtion as well.. There is a black arabian filly, barley two years old who they bred & has they bay filly at her side… It’s just a shame.. She is skin & bones.. There is one TB they had. The rest are arabians & half arabians.. Poeople like this should not own animals. They don’t have the money, the resorces, or the propor fecility to own & provide for them. I hope they get what they deserve for this.. OH & THERE “TRAINER”. SOME GUY WHO GOT SHUT DOWN BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO PAY HIS RENT MONEY AT A BARN. HES A JOKE. HE TAKES PEOPLES MONEY & PUTS THE HORSES IN THERE STALLS. He isn’t a trainer. He’s a moron who claims he knows what he’s doing but uses harsh “cowboy” methods & the horses come back beaten & broke. But no trainer. ANYONE can abuse an animal.
  1. Chelsea says: September 29, 2009 at 12:57 pmOh & also.. Iknow for a FACT these horses haddent been wormed in AGES! They weren’t on ANY pasture. They were in a DIRT pen with THOUSANDS of rocks! NO GRASS!! These horses were NOT in “rekativley good shape” these horses & ponies & gots & sheep were in terrible condition. So if YOU had any brains YOU should know that. & yes it’s rare to see a fit horse in there late 20′s & older but that’s no excuse to be in THAT bad of shape They should have there teeth floated & be on seinor feed of some sort. KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT BEFORE YOU TRY & ACT SMART. What do you say about there hooves? These horses were kept in UNFAIR conditions. There was NOT ANY ROOM in that small pasture for all these animals!! There was hardley ANY shelter for no more then 3 at a time. No horses got blanketed in the winter except the 3 older ones.. SOME PEOPLES NERVE TO ACTUALLY TRY TO DEFEND PEOPLE LIKE THIS! I know the whole story & i know these people personally..
    But what they have done IS W R O N G hello!!
  1. Desiree says: October 4, 2009 at 10:59 pmThis has gone to far. I am sick of all the slander you do gooders have to offer. This is NOT a case of abuse or neglect. These “Rescuers” have no idea what they are talking about. They can not even figure out names and sexes of these animals. Most of these horses are in there 20′s and 30′s. Feed twice a day with grass hay alfalfa and senior grain. And the water was kept up also. The owner DID NOT state that she only fed twice a week. That is stupid one of those moron rescuers did. I am tierd of this they had 6 horses teeth floated with in this year. And all vet checked this year. How come they NEVER showed pictures of the other horses they have had sence they were babys. And Chelsea the little girl that wrote the blog on Sept. 29th she has no idea what she is talking about. They need to go out and see her horse, she is ungratful. Always leaving the horse alone for days at a time while she goes to her boyfriends house. The horses ribs are showing and he is only 2. He is a blind stud, she wanted to breed him to one of our mares. Also your going to punish some one for doing a good deed. Most of these horses would not even be living if it were not for the owner. People would not look twice a these horses. But the rescue can not even take care of them. As stated in the Olympian. The owner had the money too. And still does. Give the horses back. She did not abuse or neglect them. All of you are negeleting to see the fact that you tore these horses away from there home. The owner loved them like her own children. Oh and to clear something up The bay arabian mare, she is in her late 20s and they did not ride her because she is older. Let the horse be retired thats what mostly all of them are doing. Living the rest of there days out on a nice little farm BEING TAKEN CARE OF!!!! and i am sorry but if one of you do gooders theys to tell me different you have no idea what you are talking about so just shut up and go ride one of your quarter horsesThanks SO much Desiree
  1. 1. LuvzHerHorses says: October 7, 2009 at 11:05 amI have quite a bit to say in response to everything posted over the last month… so please bear with me.Fantasia states Doesnt the dimwit owner have to be convicted before they can place any of the horses since this wasn’t a voluntary surrenderNormally yes… But to prove how screwed up the Hooved Animal Rescue is and how they will take anyone’s animals to make a few bucks, they put them all up for sale immediately. Not something I would expect them to admit freely, but something I happen to know as a fact. They were also suppose to bring a vet out to the premises to rate these horses before seizing them and they did not do that either. The vet did not go to see the horses for three days. So for all we know they starved them after taking them just so they could have their pathetic pictures and low ratings.Anna… You seem to think the horse with the damaged feet is unhappy and in pain have you seen the horse personally? How do you really know he is unhappy? If you look closely to the pictures you can see that the horse had a recent feet trimming. The horse came to her that way and they were in the process of repairing the damage. Again… this is another case of someone who is passing judgment without all the facts.

Anyone who feeds their animal the local grass (which I believe she was feeding some of the animals) is going to get the bloated belly. Can I just point out that the lady on the news report contradicted herself when she said the big hay belly… the big belly on the mini is from a worm overload Which is it? A hay belly or worms… you can not have both. Oh and for the record the owner had ALL feces tested and low and behold there were no worms detected.

I would also like to know why, if you watch the news story none of the horses on the story reflect the pictures posted. This takes me back to my above comment of them being starved after they were taken to make the horses look bad.

I happen to know this trainer that everyone keeps referring too. I have four horses at his facility and in his care. I have been going out to his facility 6 days a week for almost a year, when I put my first horse in training with him. I would like to clear a few things up:

First Chelsea needs to shut her mouth because this trainer DOES NOT beat the horses. This trainer has more talent in his little finger then most of the trainers in this area. Most of the trainers around here like to talk trash and spread rumors about other trainers to gain business. This trainer has an amazing bond with all the animals in his care.

Second I do not know where everyone is getting their information but the trainer NEVER said the horses looked fine These animals were NOT at his facility and it was not his responsibility to feed them. I would also like to mention that he ONLY had three of her horse in training at his facility EVER and that was over nine months ago. He has not been involved with the horses since.

Third and finally… Again Chelsea… you need to get your facts straight. The trainer was never shut down because he refused to pay his rent. What happened is really no ones business, but those of us who are close to this trainer and know the truth know what happened. All that needs to be said is that the trainer upheld his end of the contract.

  1. fhotd says: October 7, 2009 at 11:10 am>>I happen to know this trainer that everyone keeps referring too. I have four horses at his facility and in his care. Because I wouldn’t leave a horse there with what the horses in his front yard look like. By the way, which facility are you talking about, the place he’s in now or the place he got foreclosed out of or the place he got kicked out of before that?
  1. LuvzHerHorses says: October 7, 2009 at 2:17 pmThe fact that you only responded to a very small portion of my response proves that you are making this a personal attack against this trainer, and that is just sad. I don’t understand how this started as a seizure of horses at one persons property to attacking a trainer that had nothing to do with the horses. As far as the two horses out front…. when is the last time you went by there? And do you know ANYTHING about those two horses? I think not… but I do….
  1. fhotd says: October 7, 2009 at 2:28 pmNo, it proves I’m busy and don’t have enough time to comment endlessly on my own blog. The criminals in this case have been charged and I’ll be posting a new blog entry soon with the update so you can blather away then. I personally attack everybody who neglects horses. That’s one of the main topics of this blog. I’m not singling him out. Every defense on this thread is RIDICULOUS. Age is NEVER an excuse for a horse to be emaciated. I can show you FAT thirty year olds all day.

Here is another story where they admit to selling the horses at Auction to get money from 1995, so here is the PROOF that HAROTC sells rescues at auction, so that is just MORE money in their pockets. Oh & please note who the director is: Mary Cooper-Ware How could ANYONE support a “rescue” like this? How disgusting is this?

Severe horse neglect Thurston County, WA (US) Incident Date: Tuesday, Feb 28, 1995 County: Thurston Disposition: Convicted Case Images: 1 files available

Defendants/Suspects:» Wayne Nichols» Rebecca Nichols

Wayne Nichols, 67, and Rebecca “Bunny” Nichols, 61, were ordered at the time not to possess any horses other than those agreed to by a county prosecutor, and to allow them to be inspected periodically. The horses had been confiscated more than a year earlier and later were sold at auction, in part to cover a private group’s costs of care that topped $34,000.

But the 1994-95 Washington state case apparently didn’t come to light at the time, because the couple had entered what’s known as an “Alford plea,” not admitting to the underlying facts, but acknowledging they probably would lose at trial  a procedure legally seen as a guilty plea.

A Medford woman who became aware of the couple’s arrest contacted Mary Ware of Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County (http://www.har-otc.com/), who was involved in the previous case and passed on information about it officials in Bend.

PETFINDER INFO: ADOPTED ANIMALS so where are the other 385 animals??? So where is the money from the animals that are auctioned off?

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County? What is really going on? ?

Okay we all know I take issues with “rescues” that are run by City & County Shelter employees. The 2 things need to be separated.

It is a good chance that if you live in Thurston County if your animals are seized they are going there, to that rescue, that is run by a shelter employee.

There was a raid in September & there was 4 horses seized, 1 was returned to it’s former owner, 2 are still there & the fourth “Sassy” died of colic, the vet’s report stated her intestines were twisted, & that is was a very slow & painful death, finally ending with an intestinal rupture. UNDER THE CARE OF A HOOVED ANIMAL RESCUE FOSTER HOME’S CARE.  Please keep in mind this happened on January 9th 2012 & the horses were seized on September 14th 2011.

For those of you don’t know what colic in horses looks like here it is;

The horse bites at it’s stomach, they thrash on the ground, they don’t just lay down, they drop to the ground they open their mouths like they are gasping for air, they kick their legs, they attempt to roll over but they never are able to roll all the way over, their backs are arched up from the pain & they look like hunchbacks, then they get up bite & kick at their own stomachs. Their whole bodies are covered in sweat, their gums are white, their eyes bulge from their head & are bloodshot, they are nervous, unable to be comforted, they grunt because they are straining to push the gas through but it hurts them so badly they can’t even whinny.

It is a very slow & horribly painful death that can last for days. For those of you who  don’t know this, a horse can not throw up but colic most times is a simple matter of care, the horse merely has to POOP, so a good caretaker will simply walk the horse & keep it moving until it does so, if it doesn’t then a vet is called out & the puts a tube down the horses nose & pumps in some medicine to fix the problem.

So how do you NOT notice this? How does a horse languish in this kind of AGONY & NO ONE notices? Her intestines RUPTURED from the pressure, can you possibly imagine that kind of pain?

I run a rescue, donations from the public are the ONLY way we can succeed, or even attempt to help animals. I can have all the “dreams” & good intentions in the world but it wouldn’t be possible without the love of others. I also understand that all it takes is one medical emergency & you are completely out of funds. (Been there did it!!!)

I also understand that when someone gives me their hard earned money I have the obligation to be honest with them & let them know exactly how I spent their monies, it is a moral obligation but it is also a legal obligation. I have been blessed with good donors, people who have donated 5 dollars to 25 hundred dollars. That is why when the nutbag Rose started her crap about me taking donations & spending them on stupid things I had to laugh because HELLO!!! I am an accountant & I keep impeccable books, & every donor knows where their money is going. It can happen that you get several emergencies & you end up in the horrid situation I did, honestly I could’ve said well “that” dog was too old & just opted to euthanize her & called it a day: but I have to live with myself, & eventually I will have to answer to a higher power. I took her out of that shelter & I made her a promise that I would do everything in my power to help her & by God I did. It is a fine line & it is a hard road.

So the constant requests for donations: I get that, what I don’t get is the County Employee/Rescue operator who is getting cash grants from a shelter to run her rescue, & also getting animals from the shelter & law enforcement when she doesn’t have the funds to care for them.

Not once do they mention that this horse is dead, or how it died, the day after she died they were again requesting donations, & they are trying to charge this Rebecca Turner woman 10K to care for her 4 horses when they don’t have 1 of them & they let one of them die, they did not need any extraordinary vet care, just support, AND they are also claiming the last group of 6 horses they took in cost 10K to take care of, when 2 of them died & they continually post about spending 2 to 4 thousand dollars on their vet care. Is 10K the “standard” price they charge every time they take an animals in every time. If they are getting 10K for every raid they take animals in from then why do they still need donations, sounds VERY lucrative to me.

They don’t even have to go out & look for horses, they are delivered right to their door, so along with what they are charging owners & what they are getting from the County Shelter, they should be pretty self sufficient. Where are those county funds coming from? County taxes? Community Donations?

I went looking for their Facebook page after getting all of this info & sure enough, no mention of the horse who died, & as I was told they said the last group of 6 horses were the “worst they had ever seen” but: In the newspaper reports they did they claimed the 4 horses from September were.

I have never dealt with this rescue, from the looks of it I will never, as a matter of fact I will not ever refer anyone to them, I don’t see them as an organization that is out for the animals, I see them grabbing at the media straws, milking it for everything it’s worth, they are misrepresenting themselves giving updates on the pig & dogs also seized when they never had them. Worst of all they have something horrid to say about almost everyone. Typical rescue high school drama.

If these rescues worked as hard as I do & many other rescues or shelters that you DON’T see in the newspapers every day to prevent this & help owners who are in trouble then there would be far less suffering for animals. I do free shots, free flea treatments, free wormers, free dog & cat food. I help people who are overwhelmed with too many critters get their numbers down, or simply help  them clean up their homes & surroundings. Sadly when I get a person with too many animals I hardly ever call on any local rescuers to help because they are too busy putting others down, but I have some out of state help who will show up in caravans to help clean up & get animals placed in shelters or rescues around the west coast. I also do shelter to shelter bartering, if we have 1 shelter with 40 little dogs who need big dogs I find a shelter with big dogs who will trade that shelter bigs for littles, or vice versa. When an owner comes to me in dire straights I will foster or help them with training or just take the animals in, it does no good to put someone down when they are already there, it doesn’t make you look any better to point a finger at them.

I have left their address, paypal & website addresses up here just in case you would like to donate anyway. That is entirely up to you, maybe you know something I don’t & I don’t want animals to suffer but there are many any other horse rescues in the state who could probably use some help too.

My Comment Do you have any idea yet why that horse Sassy was found dead at one of your foster homes yet? Does the lack of food & money for vet care have anything to do with it? I was told she died of colic & that her intestines were all twisted and that it was a very slow & painful death. Why wasn’t anyone aware of her slowly painfully dying? This whole page is just begging for money & other donations, so why are you taking in animals if you can not afford to care for them & why is LAW ENFORCEMENT giving you more when it looks to me (from this page) that you can not afford the ones you already have?

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County I just got the latest vet bill that covers the mare and foal’s hospitalization, it’s over $4,000…OUCH!! We have to put our emergency fund on hold until we get a grant to cover that fund. We hate to do this but have no choice. At this point we are unable to take on any more animals from law enforcement until we get some funds coming in. Does anyone locally want to donate any money, hay, etc? We need good quality alfalfa for our skinny ones and good grass for our others. Let me know if you can help in any way. No donation is too small.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County Helen – many thanks to you and all the others that have donated to the care for Rosie. This bunch has really hit us hard financially. We’ve got a grant application in and I’ll submit another this coming week and hopefully get some funds with those. We couldn’t help all the critters without the wonderful support from our community members.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County This group has been one of the worst we’ve ever had for sickness. 5 of the 6 had infections. We lost the stallion and this little one’s mama and weren’t sure if Rosie would make it or not but she’s a fighter.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County We have foster homes throughout the county. I also work at Animal Services, 3120 Martin Way and donations can be dropped off there or I can pick up. Email me and we’ll talke, harotc@live.com.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County Here’s a picture of the foal. She’s pretty rough looking but is doing better every day. The foster home has named her Rosie. She has just finished 3 weeks of IV antibioitics and will now be on oral anitibiotics for a few weeks. Her bloodwork is continuing to improve weekly. We have over $10,000 into this group of 6 horses. It’s nice to see this little girl pull through this.
Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County UPDATE – The foal is doing well. If all goes good this weekend she will move into a foster home on Monday. She will continue on the IV antibiotics for at least another week. Keep the prayers coming for this young girl. Donations are greatly appreciated. This group of sick horses has severely depleted our funds. If the TC Sheriff’s Office called us to help with another large group we may not be able to take them on financially. Donations can be sent to PO Box 711, East Olympia, WA 98540 or by Paypal on our webpage, http://www.har-otc.com. Thank you everyone that has donated so far.
Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County Sadly the mare that we had hospitalized at the vet’s with her foal took a turn for the worse today and had to be euthanized. This sucks! But the reality of the situation is if the owner had sought treatment when these horses first showed signs of sickness the outcome would probably be better. We’re praying that the foal continues to improve but we know that things can change in a heartbeat. Everyone keep this little one in your thoughts.

Diana Holbrook Bless her heart. And her foal. Thanks to HAROTC for trying to do right by the animals put in your care. It is such a valuable service to this community, and means everything for the horses who very much need it. We lost this mare, but at least she knew the compassion of a lot of good people in the end. She died with love, food, medicine, and kind hands looking after her, not alone in the mud. I know the costs don’t end here, and we will continue to do what we can to help pay the bills and care for the ones we have left. I hope everyone will consider even a small donation to enable us to keep doing this work for all who need it now, and will need it in the future. This has been a very expensive impound, and it’s not over.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County HELP NEEDED!! We recently got in several sick horses from the TC Sheriff’s Office. These are some of the sickest horses we’ve seen in a very, very long time. So far the first week’s vet bills are already almost $3,000 and we still have more vet visits, labwork, and meds that we haven’t received the bills on and this was only for the first week. This doesn’t include the feed, bedding, supplements, etc. that is needed. We would appreciate any donations sent our way. Most of the horses are on the mend but it’s going to be a long road. January 10th.

Two Great Danes described as critically thin two months ago after being seized from an Olympia-area residence have gained considerable weight and are recovering in foster homes, according to Animal Services officials.
Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County The 4 horses from the seizure the other day are all doing well. They now have full bellies, plenty of fresh water, shelter from the weather, and some positive human interaction. Can’t ask for much more. The dogs also are holding in there, eating and gaining weight. Mr. Pig has a fracture so he’s on strict cage rest to help start the healing process. Prayers for all of them to make it through. Kudos to all the vet staff and foster homes helping in their care.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County We can’t forget to thank Animal Services and the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, without them serving the warrant and removing the animals the horses would not be in our care.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County There are 4 horses involved in this seizures.

Olalla Couple’s farm raided, animals seized, due process denied (til now)

The Olalla farm seizure – Kitsap Sun

The link above provides the story of the blatant abuse of civil rights due process, & the destruction of about 8 different amendments…

The twist here is that there is an honest Judge who actually is following the LAW!!!

I know!!! How exciting is that? Unfortunately Kitsap Humane has already sterilized & farmed out a good deal of these people’s animals without legal authority to do so. The Judge ordered a halt to it but they can’t get back the value lost on some of the animals now.

There is a group that has taken up funds for this family & an attorney that is working on this, unfortunately he hasn’t even gotten enough in donations to cover the filing fees, so please share this far & wide, & lets get these folks some help, we’ve got an honest judge, a hard working attorney, & the law seems to be on their side, so please let’s help these folks! Please click the link below to find out how you can help & to see how these cases unfold

Dirty Prosecutors & AC are at it again… Kitsap County

This is a story of over 173 animals seized from “deplorable conditions”… Or is it? Keep in mind they were all healthy weight, some were being grown as food to support the family, which is what people in FARMING communities do. Their dog was killed because he wasn’t socialized… Umm he is a working dog, he is NOT supposed to be socialized. The Kitsap Humane Society IMMEDIATELY started adopting out & farming out all of these people’s animals, the prosecutor lied about an attorney & tried to claim he didn’t file paperwork, he proved he did so then she says it wasn’t the correct paperwork, they were not given notice of their legal remedies, 2 of their animals have died in the care of an outside agency. They must be taking lessons from the City of Everett in the absolute RAPE of the Constitution of the United States of America. I feel horrible about this family’s suffering but it does make me feel better to know that these tactics are finally being exposed by newspapers who aren’t afraid to tell the truth. Amazing concept really, more newspapers should follow their lead

I have to thank the Kitsap Sun for having the human decency to actually report the story, I miss my morning paper from there, I miss reading a paper I actually could believe in, I miss the cool crisp mornings waking up in Olalla, with the deer in the front yard, hearing the horses down at the bottom of the gulley, & the 1/2 mile walk to the mailbox where I could meet any number of neighbors or animals. If you found a stray dog most times you knew who’s it was & you just kept them inside the gate & drove them home later on your way to the store or just because you were bored & wanted to go visit someone to check out the local gossip or to hear Indian John & the Cougar’s stories, they had the most entertaining love hate relationship I have ever heard of but honestly John caused most of by making himself look a lot like a tasty treat. The walk down the hill to “Beautiful Downtown Olalla” which consisted of a store, an empty building & a long dry gas pump, but it was always full of local folks & local chatter, on a really exciting day a shark or a dead octopus would wash up in the Bay, one of the sharks was about a foot taller than me! Okay never mind I now live in the f-ing city where the only howling I hear at night is SIRENS and the worst morning walking out & seeing a bear sitting in m blackberry bushes is still better than my best morning here walking to the store & seeing crackheads & hookers Frick Frick Frick!!! Oh hell. What was i writing about?

Oh now I’m homesick & irritated. Anyway I have included some of the links to this story & in case I forgot to mention, most of the animals were rabbits quails & chickens, & there is a HUGE pack of coyotes out there so if the cages were so shoddy, trust me they wouldn’t have had any animals.

I do however find it comical that everyone is stating that the “llamas” were grossly underweight: Well DUH! They were Alpacas.

I just don’t “get it” every dealing I have had with Kitsap Humane has always been pleasant. At one point in time we got a bunch of dogs dumped on us & all they did is roll up their sleeves & help out & then they took most of the dogs after we got them ready because they listened to me when I said there was no WAY I could take care of all those dogs, they took all the bigger dogs & most of the smaller dogs & puppies even though they were full up themselves. The second I got donations they would shoot right out to pick them up, the second I needed something I could go whining to them. SORRY I love KHS & it’s staff so I’m going to blame the prosecutors on this one!
